The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

genre: young adult fantasy

The Queen of Nothing is the third and final book in the Folk of the Air series, be sure to read The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King first!!

Jude is in exile.  She is now the Queen of Faerie, fat lot of good it's doing her, living in the mortal world and supremely aware that managing to claim power is NOT the same as keeping it.  And while she has a host of doubts and frustrations, which she doesn't have is a lot of people to trust - most especially her twin sister Taryn.  So when Taryn shows up with a desperate need, Jude has to decide if she dares return to the Faerie Court - and all the drama that will ensue.  If she doesn't, though, will she ever feel whole again?

Loved this.  The political maneuvering, curses. betrayals and the ultimate pain of deciding to side with your family or with your heart.  It just sped right along and I really liked Jude's character arc and the choices she had to sort through, especially in her relationship with Cardan, but as a queen as well.  The plot twists worked for me and, as a series, I really, really liked it!!
