Let's Pretend This Never Happened (a Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson (audiobook)

 genre: memoir/humor

Jenny Lawson had a pretty, um, unique childhood.  And by unique I mean crazy.  Her memoir/thoughts on her life reads like posts from her blog - which I don't read - but that's the vibe.  Super familiar, funny and you're never REALLY sure what happened and what she's just elaborating for the story's sake.  For me, though, it worked. The audio made me laugh out loud and her quirky style distracted me through some really difficult days.  It's not for anyone, ESPECIALLY if you do not like swears.  If cursing bothers you - RUN!  Yes, she swears like a sailor but she does it so WELL that usually it added to the story in a way that made the story even more funny.  She talks about mental illness and social discomfort in a way that makes her feel super down-to-earth, even if her Texas-wild, taxidermy-riddled life feels so unfamiliar she might as well be living in another country.   It's not for everyone but  if you are in the need of a funny distraction and can handle the swears and the way she uses "vagina" as a filler word, this might be the book for you.
