I Remember Beirut is a series of vignettes, snatches of memory from the mind of the author, Zenia. Most of these are memories of when she was a little girl living in war-torn Beirut with her parents and brother. Some of the stories are of the violence that lurks outside her childhood consciousness and others are lighthearted - appropriate for older elementary-aged children. The art is bold and vibrant - the ending felt a bit disjointed but overall I enjoyed it and would definitely read another by this author.
