For an ornithologist like Beth Pickering, any chance to find a bird, magical or not, is sure to end in adventure of one kind or another. That’s just the world of Victorian Era Ornithology. But when a contest to capture a very rare magical bird is announced, Beth knows that she must throw her, very lovely and tidy, hat into the ring. But in that ring is also the dashing Devin Lockley, most certainly a devilish fiend and who must be avoided. But in the birding world, one can never know what will happen and Devin might just be the person to beat. Or to fall in love with. This is the fourth book I've read by this author and the first time I have done an audiobook version. I honestly think that having a British reader made it even more entertaining to me! This is a delightful romance with the same kind of witty banter, farcical innuendo and clever heroine that I would have anticipated. The storyline here is very silly and as a bird nerd myself, I was genuinely thrilled with all of the bird adoration. My only complaint is that I feel like it went on a little bit too long. Kerfluffle after kerfuffle and by the end, I was ready for it to wrap up. But it made me laugh out loud more than once and feel happy so many times that it still deserves four stars.
