Lockwood and Co: The Empty Grave by Jonathan Stroud (audiobook)

 genre: middle grade paranormal

Book 5 of the Lockwood & Co series

I really loved how this book started - a tiny bit of no-spoiler foreshadowing and then just right out the gate with a crazy case.  With their new, surprising, associate Quill Kipps by their side, Lucy, Anthony, George and Holly continue to chase and destroy specters and visitors.  Soon, though, there are bigger games afoot.  When outside (adult!)  forces lean in and when Lucy makes an unexpected discovery - the stakes get even higher.  Something big is going on - and if anyone can figure out when it is, Lockwood & Co can (with absolutely some destruction and snark along the way!)

I'm so sad this is done. What a fantastic wrap up to a fantastic series - there are so many interesting revelations here, twists and bigger picture reveals - it really gave me what I wanted!  I guessed one tiny plot point but it didn't even spoil it because it was what I WANTED to have happen. I literally would read an entire book about Skull, I love him that much.   I listened to this thirteen hour book over a 24 hour period.  Granted, it was between Halloween and the day after - the PERFECT season for this ghostly, chilling, perfectly scary and gruesome book.  THREE CHEERS for Lockwood and Co.  I'd hire them to solve my ghost problems ANY TIME.
