Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale

genre: adult fiction

Charlotte has gone through the wringer.  Her marriage ended in a painful disaster and her heart has had to freeze up in order to survive.  Intelligent and capable, she just needs to somehow relax.  Just for a few days.  And she ends up in that crazy world-within-a-British-world, Austenland. She dons the corset, locks up the cell phone, and takes a vacation in 1816.

So, I had no idea of where this book was going to go once I got started.  When I finally realized it really was doing what I thought it was doing, I was worried that it would completely annoy me.  Turns out, it didn't!  And I believed it enough to enjoy it! Cryptic enough for you? I hate spoilers so if you really want to know, read a different review :) There is love, all kinds of witty British men delivering one-liners and a great little mystery that kept me happily entertained while feeding two bottles at the same time.  Won't change your life but it was great fun.
