Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

genre: young adult urban fantasty

Demonglass is the sequel to Hex Hall, which, if you like snarky heroines with crazy erratic powers, you really should go read.

Demonglass does a great job of getting us from the first book to the last without ever being boring or feeling inconsequential.  That's a big deal, in a second book.  Lots of things happen and we learn details about Sophie and her very unusual family history.   The conflict between The Eye and the Prodigium has vamped up and Sophie's father wants her to be ready for whatever might happen. There is, of course, some love that turns more into a love triangle, which is always fun if it is done well, which this is.

I have to go start book three now.
