The night the Titanic sank, in the midst of the terror and confusion, a distress call was sent out. The Captain of the Carpathia heard her and rushed to the rescue. The fictional recounting of the sinking and rescue goes back and forth between two perspectives - those coming to the rescue and those in dire need of assistance.
It's possible I've just studied too much about The Titanic for this one to be super compelling to me. I felt like it could've been edited to be made a bit tighter and I never felt super invested in the characters, with the exception of Captain Rostron of the Carpathia. His storyline was the most interesting to me although even his inner monologue sometimes was noticeably repetitive. The readers of the audiobook did a good performance and while I wasn't enthralled, it was an easy listen. I do think we will be able to have a good book club discussion about it because there are a lot of ethical ideas regarding the entire disaster that are worth thinking about.
