One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

 genre: contemporary fiction/chick lit

Emma Blair had done it - she'd met the boy that was her perfect match in high school - Jesse.  By their twenties, Emma and Jesse had married and created the life of travel and adventure they'd dreamed of.  Except, when Jesse leaves on a trip just before their first anniversary, he's lost at sea in a freak accident.  And Emma's existence as she knew it was over.  Putting the pieces back together meant saying goodbye to some things - and hello to others, so much so that when three years later, Jesse turns up again, there is a lot to unpack.

This felt more chick-lit than other books by Reid that I've read, but it's a quick and interesting one.  I couldn't imagine being in this situation, I think that's part of what drew me to keep reading.  WHAT would I do?  KNOWING I had to disappoint someone I loved no matter how I chose to move forward with my life?  Although it's not so special it really deserves more than 3.5 stars, I'm rounding up because of some of the really insightful ideas about love and life that I liked at the end.  Emma didn't go about it how I would have but I still appreciated the journey.
