Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan

genre: contemporary romance

Nora Hamilton lives with her two children in a worn-down old house in rural New York.  Despite making a living as a screenwriter for the Romance Channel, her life has been anything but romantic.  Her husband abandoned the three of them after years of heartache but now things are looking up - the screenplay she wrote about their disastrous marriage is being made into a movie and Leo Vance, one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, is coming to her home to film on location.  And when Leo is finished filming, somehow he ends up wanting to stay - and Nora is brave enough to experiment with having this movie star in her home, with her children.  She knows she's not the kind of woman Leo Vance could fall for - so what is she evening doing?

OKAY OKAY I LOVED IT.  Thanks to the excellent Sabrina for making the recommendation, it was perfect for these cold winter mornings.  I don't care that it's cheesy and that I guessed the ending (but not the climax, surprisingly).  I do not care that I had to actively suspend my disbelief because I wanted Leo Vance to be real and to love Nora Hamilton.   I actually really did believe in the heartache in this book, how being truly let down by the people you love can break you and make it hard to open that box again.  I appreciated that the kids were a part of the whole story - because when you are a mama, the kids ARE a part of the whole story.  It was romantic as it could possibly be and the "scenes" were behind closed doors so I can recommend it willy nilly to all my romance loving friends.  Friends, I didn't want to put it down.
