It's approaching Christmas in his small Irish town and Bill Furlough is looking closely at his life. He runs a coal business and in the mid 1980s, he's making ends meet. His daughters are healthy and thriving and his relationship with his wife is comfortable enough. His own questions about his parentage bring up old feelings when an unexpected discovery makes him realize that doing good is always a choice.
It's super short - a two hour audio book. But it's tender and thoughtful - the ending made me teary. A lovely Christmas story about human kindness.
