Nalia has lived the life of a princess for all her sixteen years - privileged and educated. And then, out of the blue, she is told that she isn't really the princess. She was raised in the palace in order to ensure the safety of the true princess, who was then ready to take the throne. Suddenly, thrust out into the real world, the-girl-who-was-Nalia (now Sinda), has so much to learn, not just practical life skills but a knowledge of the magic that appeared inaccessible. Soon, she is on a path that will lead her into a web of deceit and plotting that no one else seems to know must be unraveled.
I don't know why this one didn't totally thrill me. Maybe it was Sinda, who was a really emotional person - the love thread was so full of her being an emotional outburst that it got annoying. The plot was fairly intricate and I liked the intrigue. Hmm. It has enough uniqueness to set it apart from other books in the genre, I just wasn't enthralled - I think the world building and the relationships could've been more creative. The end.
