The book I read this year that made me want to be a different kind of parent:
*************************
The book I read this year by an non-American author that was the most profound and enjoyable:
*************************
The book I read this year that was the most beautiful, lyrical and bizarre:
***********************
The book I read this year that made me the most pleasantly nostalgic for my youth:
*************************
The best book that I read aloud to my kids this year:
*************************
The books I read this year that had me completely in their clutches, unable to move on with my life until I finished reading them:
The Other Side of the Island by Allegra Goodman
Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Graceling and Fire by Kristin Cashore
(Are you surprised that every last one of those is a young adult book? And all but two are post-apocalyptic/dystopian? I'm not!)

Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Graceling and Fire by Kristin Cashore
(Are you surprised that every last one of those is a young adult book? And all but two are post-apocalyptic/dystopian? I'm not!)
The books I read this year that awed me with their depth and breadth, the lovely chunksters that held my attention and made me satisfied in the end:

The book I read this year that was tiny and perfect:
Books I have not yet mentioned but which also received my Comfy Tree Award:
The Patron Saint of Butterflies by Cecilia Galante
The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams
A Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank
Hanna's Daughters by Marianne Fredriksson
Moxy Maxwell Does Not Love Writing Thank You Notes by Peggy Gifford
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams
A Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank
Hanna's Daughters by Marianne Fredriksson
Moxy Maxwell Does Not Love Writing Thank You Notes by Peggy Gifford
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
In all, it was a stellar year for books, I had a hard time choosing favorites. Of the 96 books I read this year, only 4 of them I had to rate less than 3 stars. Good odds for a busy year. I cannot WAIT to see what next year holds!

I've really enjoyed reading your reviews and blog this year.
Thanks for your year end review!
Look forward to your book selections in 2010!
That, my friend, is a fabulous wrap up post. And every single one of them is either on my TBR list, or I've already read and loved. :-) Thanks for all the recommendations!
Great post! I have loved so many of those this year too. I have Fire on my list for this January and I really need to read The Other Side of the Island this year too. Well done friend!
I love the way you did your wrap up post! I'm sad to say I've only read two of your books. My wish list continues to grow with these end of the year wrap-ups.
I TOTALLY noticed that one particular category was all YA! :) Nice list here, Corinne!
Very cool wrap-up post. You had a great year. Happy new year.
Loved this list! Happy new year!
