Reading this book the second time, it was even more amazing that I remembered it. I almost felt a physical pain; it is such a poignant coming of age book. An interesting thing is that I felt, this time, so much more of the struggles that the parents went through, trying to raise their kids in such meager circumstances. I still adored Francie as a character and found her longing to be needed just as dear to my heart now as I did when I was a teenager and read it. But I think I appreciated the book as a study of a place and time and experience more this time around. I just love it. Everyone should read this book at least once.

This is one of those, "Ouch, I can't believe I've never read this" kind of books. I need to get on it!
I had mixed feelings when I read it. There were parts I really liked and yet came away not knowing what I thought about it. I think this will be my next book club pick to get other perspectives.
I finally read it! LOVE IT. It was almost hard for me to read because of the circumstances, but at the same time, it was some what relatable.
Anyway...fabulous.
